Let's Go Fly a Kite

Oh, let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite

I took this a few years ago. Applied the tintype filter on a whim and loved the result so much that this has become one of my favorite photos. I got the kite up there fairly high then handed it off to my oldest. He was able to keep it up, surprising and delighting us both.

Kids today don't seem to care much for the traditional activities. Next to their Nintendo Switches, kite flying is both difficult and not as exciting. It's hard to compete with those things, or with the social pressure they feel from their friends to always be keeping up in the games.

But occasionally I can manage to get my kids out with me flying the kite. It's times like these that I like the best.
