What is “Toxic Masculinity”?

If toxic masculinity is only an undesirable kind of masculinity, then we need to ask: what does good masculinity look like?

This article raises a number of important questions. First and foremost, is all masculinity toxic or only a certain subset? If only a subset then what exactly is the definition? What about the cause? This article points out that those that subscribe to the idea of "toxic masculinity" often also see gender as a social construct and most boys are raised solely or primarily by women. So does this mean toxic masculinity is in part the fault of women and how they are raising boys? And for that matter, is there such a thing as "toxic femininity?" Finally, does something like the Gillette commercial really help or does it just come across as condescending and accomplish nothing more than alienating its target audience?
