"I have become sympathetic with our original John Staton. Perhaps born near Shakespeare's home in Warwickshire,England, at Stratford-on-Avon about 1644. Married Anne Matthews in Warwickshire in 1665. John was then perhaps age 21. The next year they moved to what is now Staytonville, Delaware. We are told John owned rich land but we do not find the deeds or wills."
