Ubisoft is making a statement with XDefiant 🔫

If you haven't heard of XDefiant yet, prepare to have your mind blown. Ubisoft has decided to release a free-to-play FPS to compete with Call of Duty. Not only that, but it looks to be aiming to be more like the best COD games from many years ago.

If you're like me, you probably think COD has fallen from its grace. It may still be making plenty of money, but it's just not fun as it used to be. I'm not sure if it's because I've been playing COD for 20 years or if the development cycle is just too much to keep up with. COD has begun to feel stale and lazy to me, a game for children or superfans who don't understand how low quality it has become.

There is no barrier to entry with XDefiant, it's going to be free when it releases later this summer. Your chance to test it early is here starting today and going until this Friday night. This leaves three full days of gameplay. You will definitely be seeing a gameplay post from me later this week. In the meantime, check out this video for gameplay.

One of the biggest things about XDefiant is that Ubisoft is incorporating some of its best franchises with factions and maps. I'm talking about characters and locations from Ghost Recon, The Division, Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry. More factions will be coming in the future and I imagine games like Rainbow Six and possibly even Assasin's Creed will get their own faction. Crossbows and knives anyone?

I'm really hyped for this game and am so glad I finally get to try it out today. I look forward to reporting back after I've actually had time to play the game for several hours. I'm pretty sure it's going to be great though. We will find out for sure soon.
