Emerald beetle // Escarabajo esmeralda
I am aware that having a small garden in spring is a privilege. Plants and flowers grow without the need for much care and attract huge numbers of insects. One of the most beautiful insects that appear during these months is the little green weevil.
Soy consciente que tener un pequeño jardín en primavera es un privilegio. Sin necesidad de muchos cuidados crecen las plantas y las flores que atraen a ingentes cantidades de insectos. Uno de los más bonitos que hacen aparición en estos meses es el pequeño gorgojo verde.
Its striking bright colour is reminiscent of an emerald, although it is unnoticed by predators. Harmless to people, it feeds on small seeds.
Su llamativo color brillante recuerda a la esmeralda aunque le haga pasar desapercibido para sus depredadores. Inofensivo para las personas, se alimenta de pequeñas semillas.
Beneath its colourful green coat it keeps its wings, which it uses to move quickly. Its small size puts my pulse to the test to get it into focus with the added difficulty of the breeze that moves the leaf on which it rests.
