Drop mining temperatures with new thermalpaste (GPU mining maintenance)
Today we are taking a look at a little temperature experiment of mine for GPU mining. I took my oldest mining card and wanted to see if I could drop its temperatures by taking the card apart, cleaning it and reapplying new Thermalpaste. As always, my experiments come in video format:
GPU: R9 280X Windforce OC by Gigabyte
Temperature ° C before the experiment mining ETH (Dagger Hashimoto) ~67 ° C
Thermalpaste brand used: Thermalgrizzly
Spoiler: The experiment was a success!
Disclaimer: Depending on your GPU manufacturer you could void your warranty with this, so please be careful. Other manufacturers like EVGA accept their cards back even if you have opened it, so please check your individual manufacturer if you want your RMA your card in the future. For my R9 the train has long left the station
If you like these kinds of experiments, I'd like to invite you to check out my channel Cursed Mining: https://www.youtube.com/c/CursedMining
