Double Smash, Weekend Win
Tonight felt like a tiny wish granted. After last week’s near-miss (sold out burger), I finally got my hands on the Double Smashed Cheeseburger from C&S Brioche Burger, and honestly, the weekend couldn’t have started better.
I love the vibe here: bright menu boards, that lively hawker buzz, fans humming overhead, and the comforting clatter of trays and sizzling grills. There’s something about eating a “serious” burger in a casual food court that makes the experience extra fun... like you’ve stumbled on a little secret that doesn’t need white tablecloths to impress.
Price-wise, the set is SGD 9.90... about what you’d pay for a McDonald’s double cheeseburger meal, but this one feels like the real-deal, healthier kind of burger: fresh, grilled-to-order, and you can taste the difference from the first bite. The brioche bun came lightly toasted with a glossy top that gave way to a soft, buttery crumb. Inside, the double smashed patties had those gorgeous, lacy edges with a gentle char. Each patty was juicy with a subtle seasoning... enough to highlight the beef without shouting over it.
Now, about the sauce. It leaned stronger and tangier than I expected... more on the sour side. At first I was like, whoa, that’s punchy. But a few bites in, it clicked: the acidity was doing an important job, cutting through the richness of the cheese, beef, and buttery brioche so I could keep munching without feeling heavy. By the halfway mark I was fully into it. If you’re sensitive to tangy sauces, you could probably ask them to go lighter, but for me it turned into a nice contrast that kept every bite lively.
Sides are a choose-two situation, and I went classic with French fries and corn. The fries were golden and crisp on the outside with a fluffy interior... the kind you absentmindedly keep grabbing even while telling yourself to slow down. The corn was a happy surprise: sweet and juicy, with a light buttery sheen and a sprinkle of seasoning that made it taste like a mini BBQ moment on the plate. Together they rounded out the meal perfectly—simple, satisfying, no notes.
What I really appreciated was how “freshly made” everything felt. The patties hit the grill only after I ordered, the bun had real toast on it, and even the sauce tasted mixed-with-intent rather than generic. It’s the kind of attention that turns a familiar comfort food into something you want to come back for. And yes, I will be back... there’s a certain joy in knowing you don’t have to chase a long queue or pay a premium to get a quality burger with character.
Overall: a super satisfying dinner and a little personal victory after last week’s sell-out saga. For SGD 9.90, this is a worthy upgrade from fast-food—better ingredients, better texture, a sauce with personality, and sides that actually taste like they were cooked for you. Weekend officially celebrated! Next time I might try it with lighter sauce just to compare… but for tonight, I left happy, full, and already planning my return. 🍔✨
