Techno Friday | HELP BEIRUT

HELLO PEOPLE

It is a bit extraordinary to see two #technofriday publications on one day from RAVING FOXES, especially that sometimes there are even monthly gaps between episodes. This time also circumstances are extraordinary. One of the highest kings of industrial techno, one of the most unique and most interesting styles in the whole game, one of my favorite producers, Ancient Methods, decided to support fundraising compilation called Nisf Madeena, which has been set up in order to collect funds for supporting art and culture scene in Beirut after the devastating explosion on 4th August 2020.

A holy relax of warm August afternoon was impulsively interrupted by a series of explosions in a warehouse at the Port of Beirut. Explosions so intensive that left some of the most vibrant parts of the city entirely or partially destroyed. With more than two hundreds fatals and thousands of injuries, hundreds of thousands of deprived from living and working places. Cleaning streets took volunteers more than a month but wiping out consequences and impacts is much more difficult and complex. Motivated by this unimaginable finish of long years of Lebanese government corruption and incompetence, a critical and curatorial Arabic online music magazine Ma3azef decided that there is no time to waste and waiting is over. Helping hand went directly for one of the marginalized but (we often forget how much)important communities - artists.

Deena Abdelwahed - Wein El Malayeen (Ancient Methods Remix)

Idea of Ma3azef's support based on creating a music compilation provided by regional and international artists and donate funds for those open-minds and free-spirits who have been failed by the state and stuggle the most difficult times right now to find themselves in the new reality.

On the 19-track various artists compilation, beside king of medieval techno Ancient Methods, we can find contributions from many different artists like Nicolás Jaar, ZULI, FRKTL, Slikback, Thoom and Aya Metwalli. Combining together ambient, classical arabic sounds, idm, deep house, industrial and much more influences from the completely different galaxies of electronic music isn't the easiest job and there is a big respect for everybody who participated in this project, because at the end it is one solid story. More important is that all incomes from this album are going to be transferred to the local initiatives, providing necessary support to the people in need. Funds will be equally shared between few organizations in Beirut: Fundraising Campaign for the Arts and Culture Community in Beirut, Beirut Musicians' Fund and Beit el Baraka. Link to the whole compilation and more information below.
