Leading lines in the sky
This is my entry for the #POBPhotoContest by @friendlymoose. The topic this week is LEADING LINES and he explains it very well.
Leading lines photography is a technique where you use natural or man-made lines to guide the viewer’s eyes through the photo. These lines usually lead to the main subject or create a sense of depth and movement.
My entry does not create a sense of depth, but the movement is clear. Also the lines are more following than leading, but they guide the view.
The picture is actually quite unspectacular. We see an aircraft and the contrails it leaves behind. (No, they are NOT chemtrails.) Nevertheless, I find it very appealing due to its simplicity and lack of distraction. I particularly like the fact that the sky was cloudless at that moment, which emphasises the minimalism.
There's an airport nearby, so sometimes the planes are travelling at very low altitude and are correspondingly loud. Here the noise was audible, but no aircraft could be seen. I searched the sky and then spotted it directly above me. The zoom on my phone camera is quite tolerable up to a certain level, a tripod was neither available nor practical in this situation. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with the result.
Anyone who knows me knows that I like to play around with my photos. And that's how this ultra-realistic depiction of four planes meeting was born.
All photos are taken with a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra camera by me,
