Where Does This Lead?

Our "secure" gated community has been plagued by petty crime over the last 18 months or so. No one knows how this individual is accessing the community and why many presume it is most likely someone who is living amongst us. I mentioned the other day I believe the person or persons breaking windows to gain entry in one area at the top of my road I believe I know who they are and live close by in the community. Only youngsters break in and drink alcohol and steal nothing else.

Two days ago one of our "alert" community members noticed a service access hole with the cover missing. My goodness this lot are wide awake and no wonder this lot are such easy targets. I have more questions than answers here like how long has this been coverless? Where does this lead and does it access storm water drains outside our gated community because I would presume it does. These access points have built in internal ladders and allow access to the workers servicing the drainage system.

This looks as though this cover has been off for some time and someone has cut the grass recently yet no one mentioned this until now. If this is outside your property you would pay attention and alert everyone unless you are ignorant and have no idea what this is. Surely you would still mention this knowing what has been going on or maybe I am more aware and more concerned than the average Joe.

We know the crime happens during the early hours between 2am and 3am and has been one of the reasons why I am so tired staying awake just in case I am needed. What makes me cross is the community only posts on our group in the morning hours after any incident and not live which helps no one. I guess they are fast asleep unaware of the activity on their properties even though their cameras are recording everything.

There is a good reason why they are all being robbed and some houses are being skipped as the thief knows which property is a soft target. If you are a target you have an electric fence with a slightly higher voltage connected to the alarm system plus beams that are triggered when the beams are broken. The beams are relatively cheap and when placed correctly will cover the entire property.

I noticed on the community group chat those being robbed are discussing upgrading their cameras when they are not even monitoring them so seriously what is the point? I have given up on them as a lost cause and will tell them when we have out next community meeting and will now start going to bed like a normal person. You cannot help others who are not prepared to help themselves and they need to learn the hard way.

I never saw anyone else patrolling the area like I was between 2 and 3 am which was discussed at our last meeting with many volunteers who have not showed up. Brock my dog will be happy he can sleep in and not be kicked out until 3 every morning with me hoping a noise down the street triggers his senses.
