Quick, Easy, and Cozy Blanket

🧶 How to Crochet a Cozy Blanket: A Simple Tutorial

Hello, DIYers! Today, I’m excited to share a crochet project I’m working on: a cozy blanket perfect for adults. This pattern is simple and repetitive, making it great for both beginners and experienced crocheters. Let’s get started!

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: I’m using 6 skeins of medium-weight yarn (currently on my 2nd skein).
  • Crochet Hook: Size K (10.5 / 6.50mm).
  • Other Supplies: Scissors and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

(my glitter hooks are harder to read, so sorry)

Step-by-Step Tutorial

1️⃣ Start with a Magic Circle

Begin your blanket with a magic circle, which serves as the foundation for your chains. If you’re new to this technique, there are many tutorials online to guide you.

2️⃣ Chain Your Base

  • Chain a length of 93 chains (or any multiple of 3, depending on your desired width).
  • Your chain length determines the width of your blanket, so feel free to make it longer or shorter.

3️⃣ Row 1: Foundation Row

  • In the last chain, work 1 half double crochet (hdc) and 1 double crochet (dc).
  • Skip the next 2 chains, then in the following chain, work 1 single crochet (sc), 1 hdc, and 1 dc.
  • Repeat this sequence (skip 2, sc-hdc-dc) until you reach the end of the row.
  • For the last chain, skip 2 and finish with 1 sc. Chain 1, and turn your work.

4️⃣ Row 2 and Beyond

  • In the first single crochet from the previous row, work 1 hdc and 1 dc.
  • Skip the next 2 stitches, then in the third stitch, work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc.
  • Repeat this pattern (skip 2, sc-hdc-dc) until you reach the end.
  • For the last stitch, skip 2 and finish with 1 sc. Chain 1, and turn your work.

5️⃣ Continue Until Desired Length

Repeat Row 2 until your blanket reaches the desired length. Since I’m making this for an adult, I plan to use 6 skeins of yarn to complete it.

Additional Notes

  • Customization: You can adjust the width of your blanket by chaining any multiple of 3.
  • Progress So Far: I’m about a quarter of the way through and loving the texture this pattern creates!

Why I Love This Pattern

This pattern is simple yet beautiful, with a lovely texture that feels warm and cozy. It’s perfect for relaxing evenings or binge-watching your favorite series while crocheting!

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope this tutorial inspires you to create your own cozy masterpiece. If you try it out, I’d love to see your results. Happy crocheting! 🧶✨
