CELEBRATING 4 YEARS OF "PRACTICE OF PERFECT!" 🎹

Creative Work Hour was founded on Canada Day, that is, 1 July of 2021. This live daily online creative studio has been a godsend for many content creators, software & game developers, and knowledge workers. But we learned in the first six months of running these sessions that there was a desire to go deeper into creativity.

On 14 February, 2022, Hive account@bitterirony and I launched Practice Not Perfect, the more artistic little sister of CWH. What we wanted to accomplish was to allow the same creatives from the flagship sessions to context switch and do something else, maybe something for themselves. So on Valentine's Day four years ago, we began #pnp...for the love ❤️ of visual and performing arts.

The crew changes from day to day, as we hold the space open daily at 4pm UTC, but I'll introduce you to those who got a slice of birthday cake today! 🎂

The upper left tile is @ hillarythecadwitch and her feline friend, Jimi, named after Jimi Hendrix. He's the most frequent feline on camera and never missed a #caturday, which we've been celebrating from the start, before we knew there was a Hive #caturday community. Regularly, we have no less than a half-dozen cats in the sessions on any given day 🐈.

In the upper middle is Hive account@drmelanie who's both an NYC doctor and an accomplished artist, a Master's grad of Cal Arts. Her work is seen broadsiding buildings in the East Village of New York.

In the upper right is me, Hive account@alessandrawhite, on Bb soprano clarinet. I got called yesterday to play a concert in Bingley, West Yorkshire, tomorrow. I'll report back on how that pans out.

In the lower left is Hive account@bitterirony on classical guitar. He's been a student of the great David Brandon since grad school days. Since co-founding Practice Not Perfect he's also been studying with Jared Brandon for Electric Guitar. At present Hive account@bitterirony is co-writing a stage musical with Nashville songwriter, Tom Worth.

In the lower right is Hive account@gretchenshepherd, a photographer, artist, and YouTuber. Her tile is set up in ECamm with three cameras to show us the work she is doing on her photographs, as she rubs on umber pigments to create an ethereal effect.

We would enjoy having you join us for whatever you are working on, especially if no one besides us know about it! We've found some of the best artistic breakthroughs happen in the quiet safety of our online practice room and art studio, Practice Not Perfect.

Who Are CWH and What We Do

Creative Work Hour is a community, a creative incubator, and a daily HIVE-staking project. We have hosted more than 3000 events since founded by Hive account@alessandrawhite on 1 July, 2021. Every single day we host no fewer than three events.

The first, #cuppajoe is a casual hang out, a coffee break. The second, Creative Work Hour #cwh is our flagship event that powers up daily. The third, Practice Not Perfect #pnp is our bonus event designed for muted music practice and for creative work to continue.

📻 KCWH aka BBCWH Radio 1 — Our Rock-n-Roll Segue 🎸

One of the essential elements of #cwh is the Rock ’n’ Roll break that occurs as segue between the live events Creative Work Hour and Practice Not Perfect.

The featured track is chosen by the CWH Host of the day inspired by a topic of conversation during Cuppa Joe or from the Check Ins/Outs that frame each of the 60 minute live sessions.

Today’s Rock-n-Roll Break music was inspired by the convo we had during Cuppa Joe about the Winter Olympics in Milan. It turns out that Hive account@drmelanie's mother was a professional ice skater who performed on at least 3 continents across the ice of scores of countries. No wonder she gave such useful commentary at our community Olympic Watch Party last Sunday.⛸️

Being the kooky bunch we are, laughing and cutting up as we do, we went from high class ice skating to consumer skating rinks to roller rinks. It didn't take us long before we devolved to roller skates with shoe cleats that require a key! How could Hive account@bitterirony resist but to reward us brilliant conversationalists with just the perfect music at the break? Here, we share it with you. 🛼
