Christie’s is one of the most globally respected art houses and recently collaborated with Artory, a blockchain-based registry of artworks and collectibles, to establish a blockchain provenance system. This marked the first industry collaboration by Artory, which seeks to protect the art world with a new level of security thanks to the decentralized technologies.

Artory's service has the potential to securely register milestones in the “life” of an art piece, such as a sale or valuation. It has the capacity to provide anonymity to collectors, who might be high net-worth individuals who do not want their identity publicly known. This is a huge step forward for Artory, as work with Christie's marks one of the first major institutional partnerships in the blockchain creative industry.
