Dead Roses
Their petals never fell.
Instead the roses died, quickly, suddenly, right there on their stems.
Stems still growing from the bush.
Bush still rooted to the ground. Alive.
Such a strange and dramatic way to go, still clinging, still determined to be a rose even in death. Not dropping the petals, one by one, the way any other rose on any other bush might do the dying rose thing.
Goodbye...
Never forget me...
