Este es un abultamiento que se genera debajo de la piel, pueden ubicarse en cualquier parte de ella, contiene tejido adiposo (Grasa). Se presentan en la capa muscular interna, siendo esta la más profunda formada por células grasas, y en la capa externa (la epidermis) la cual podemos observar palpar y es la encargada de protegernos de las radiaciones solares. Los lipomas también pueden presentarse dentro de las articulaciones. This is a bulge that is generated under the skin, can be located anywhere on it, contains adipose tissue (fat). Suelen moverse junto con la piel al momento de tocarlos.

Su consistencia es blanda, pastosa, cremosa y blanquecina.

En algunas ocasiones suelen aparecer más de un lipoma.

Cuando estos causan algunas molestias y dolor fuerte es recomendado extirparlos, mediante una intervención quirúrgica simple, se realiza una incisión y se extrae todo el contenido del mismo, se retira junto con el saco el cual contenía dicho tejido adiposo, de esta manera se asegura que el lipoma no vuelva a aparecer.

When they cause some discomfort and severe pain, it is recommended to remove them by means of a simple surgical intervention. An incision is made and all the contents of the lipoma are removed along with the sac containing the adipose tissue, thus ensuring that the lipoma does not reappear.

Actualmente no se conoce el origen de este, pero se relaciona su procedencia con la genética y herencia familiar.
