🌱 A Little Gift That Meant a Lot

Sometimes the smallest things carry the biggest feelings.

One of my students surprised me recently with the most adorable little token of appreciation — a crocheted amigurumi-style plant pot, complete with a heart flower blooming from the top and the sweetest little face stitched right onto the pot. Tucked into its tiny arms is a card that reads: “Thank you for helping me GROW.”

I mean… come on. 🥺

It wasn’t handmade — just a small, thoughtful find — but honestly? That made it even sweeter in its own way. Someone saw this little thing on a shelf somewhere and thought, yes, that’s the one. That moment of recognition, of choosing something that carried exactly the right message, says everything.

Teaching — or mentoring, or guiding, in whatever form that takes — isn’t always something you get to see the results of right away. You pour energy in, you show up, and sometimes you wonder if any of it lands. And then a student hands you a tiny crocheted pot with googly eyes holding a sign about growth, and you remember: it does.

I’m keeping this one on my desk. The little heart flower, the bright green leaves, that tiny stitched smile — it’s going to be a good daily reminder that the work matters.
