Walk in the bauxite quarry
Have you ever visited a bauxite quarry? Bauxite is a dark red sedimentary rock from which aluminum is extracted and in the past there were also some in my area. The quarries have been closed for a few decades but have become very popular tourist attractions.
It is an area that can be reached by trekking, along country paths between climbs and descents in the rocky territory, among the local vegetation. In the summer months it is tiring due to the high temperatures, better to see it on cool days like those just passed.
The area is very quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the sound of the wind is constant and pleasant. Many sounds of animals unknown to me alternate but the walk is so pleasant that the noises are a pleasant background. My son ran along the paths, his free spirit is so beautiful to see, his cheerfulness is contagious.
Inside the quarry there is a small lake with the acid green color of the brackish waters, it is the collection of rainwater mostly that have collected the mineral salts of the soil and give it this curious pigmentation. A truly unusual spectacle of colors: the green of the lake water, the red of the bauxite earth and the blue of the sky!
WOW!
