This is a large painting on box canvas, 100 x 100 cm, inspired by a particular view of this convent in the mountain, from Telese Terme train station, Campania, Italy.

I often saw this view, when I was on my way somewhere - I don't travel much, as I love domestic alchemy of being at home and working on my art, writing, projects... But this early morning train to Rome is one that usually marks the beginning of a special trip. And the morning light on the hills, making this particular formation of shapes and colour - it made me want to really celebrate it in the paint <3

I made a lot of tiny wee sketches of the view, over the years, and this is one which most related to the final painting - it is from a sketchbook of 5 x 8 cm :-)
