The Gift Giver Faucet

When I first started off with HIVE on the @terganftp account two years ago it was very very difficult. I had ZERO HP and everything that I did cost RC that I just didn't have. That sucked.

One of the bright spots was the GIFT GIVER faucet that was operational at the time. I just put in my username and I got a tiny drip of HIVE. It wasn't much but it was something and that something gradually built up my HP to the point where I could post daily.

Daily posts certainly made a difference. Now I have been told that there are different projects that will delegate RC to people to get them started and of course that is optimal.

However I was still sad when the faucet turned off.

So I always wanted to make one myself

Indeed in early posts in this community the @crystalwing.gld dragon was always supposed to be the charity dragon which would fund a faucet.

Well, a long time went by an the faucet never happened. It kept getting delayed and delayed as an idea I always wanted but never got around to.

Today that changed

It is absolutely in an alpha stage at best but...

A faucet has been setup to give out a tiny drip of HIVE once daily

However, unlike the original faucet which gave out 0.002 HP every few hours this faucet works a little differently.

FIRST:

It only pays out to people who have made either a comment or a post.

No Activity = No Drip"

I would like to support active users on HIVE not just people who want to setup a bot to suck out my HIVE little by little.

SECOND

Payouts get bigger each day someone claims. Yes, 0.001 HP isn't worth mentioning. However if you are active and request two days in a row you get 0.002, three days in a row 0.003, four days in a row--0.004 ...

In that way people who are regular each and every day end up getting a larger payout.

Then again, if you miss a day you go right back down to 0.001.

Or at least that is how it is supposed to work. I haven't had a chance to stress test it on day to day usage quite yet.

THIRD

It is still very much a work in progress.

I would love for it to give out RC instead of HP for brand new users so they can actually post each day to boost earnings.

I would love to have an option to send messages along with the request for a distribution. I like the idea that a new user could post, ask for a freebie, and send me a message to look at their post all in one website.

That doesn't happen right now but I still think it would help me find things to curate from very new users. Right now there is exceedingly little way for users to get exposure, I'm hoping this makes them more visible to me :)

But I still have work to do and this already took way longer than I thought it would.

I'll work on making it prettier, more useful and integrated with other GLD tools....once I have alpha versions of all the tools I want... then I'll put skins on them, link them onto just one website and make things much more "polished" but for right now a working alpha is awesome.
