Second PPP round in progress
On Thursday March 25, yesterday our beloved Congress passed the PPP Extension Act of 2021 to extend the latest round of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) an additional 2 months. Originally slated to close on March 31, the program is now scheduled to end on May 31. The bill is expected to be signed shortly by President Biden.
This will of course allow more independent business owners apply for the PPP with their updated tax information and or loss of business income/wages.
While this round is moving hella slower overall, compared to the first one, the good news is there is still plenty of money left to be loaned out by the U.S. If you have a side gig and hustle on the side please go and apply and get some fiat for your business.
I used Womply to apply for mine,
They launched what they call their “PPP Fast Lane” on February 28th. Since then more than 250k businesses have submitted their applications via Fast Lane. 89k have already been approved by the SBA. For context, as of March 18, JP Morgan Chase had 121k approvals in 2021. With their fast lane service it was super easy to apply. Fintech companies sure know how to get the ball rolling on innovation.
