Simpler = More Better

Every rig in my farm runs on SimpleMining OS, but a couple weeks ago I saw this video about Hive OS by Son of a Tech and I decided to try it out. I ran Hive OS on three 7x Nvidia 1070 rigs since you can run it on up to three rigs for free. I set each rig to mine Neoscrypt on Nicehash using the KlausT version of ccminer and they ran flawlessly for over a week, but when I switched the rigs to mine Ethereum using Claymore yesterday, they would restart after running for a few minutes. I admit, my overclocks for the Ethash algorithm are a little on the aggressive side, but they're stable and work fine on SimpleMining OS and Windows. After turning the overclocks down a little, the rigs still rebooted a few minutes after Claymore started.

Now, I understand that there are several things that could have caused my rigs to be unstable mining Ethereum on Hive OS and that brings me to the point of this post: simpler = more better. Hive OS has more features and supports more setups than SimpleMining OS, but I don't need an OS with more features and support for more setups. If I did, I would still be using Windows.

I put all 3 rigs back on SimpleMining OS and they're mining Ethereum using Claymore with my slightly aggressive overclocks and they have not restarted once. I am glad I tried Hive OS and I recommend giving it a shot if you're running multiple rigs and need WiFi and/or support for mixed AMD and Nvidia setups. In the future I'll probably try it again, but for now I'll stick with SimpleMining.
