A breath taking and exciting trip on a Thai Longboat from Ao Nang near Krabi to the island of Koh Yao Noi
Hi all, I hope that you are still able to do this thing that so many of us love the most- and that is travel.
So on a month long adventure through a relatively small area of Thailand, I came across this gorgeous place called Koh Yao Noi https://onestep4ward.com/koh-yao-noi-thailand/ and knowing that any travel is impossible at the moment, especially international travel, I though you might like to join me on a virtual boating and cycling adventure to the gorgeous and (mostly) unspoiled island of Koh Yao Noi by catching a longboat across this outstanding area of the Strait of Malacca and cycling around the great island.
This is the dock at Ao Nang and Krabi is kind of just around the corner...sort of...
So back in 2014, after spending 2 weeks volunteering at the Wildlife Friends Foundation of Thailand up in the mountains of the Petchaburi Province, https://www.wfft.org/ we eventually made our way across to the Island via Krabi to catch a longboat from Ao Nang.

So many people who have never traveled don't see the value in it- all they can see is spent income and nothing- no houses/cars/white goods or anything solid to show for it- except non-tangible memories- and what good is a memory they say. What can you do with that they scoff.
My favourite part of the ride- flat...π€£
Our guide pointing out something really important...maybe the local hospital for me..?
They get so caught up in that tradition- which is not so archaic, of working to buy that perfect home, with the perfect things in it, the best car parked in the manicured drive way, surrounded by the white picket fences, that they forget what life is all about, because there far too busy now being tethered to the mortgage, bank loans and other debts that they accumulate to buy these things, that it becomes a vicious cycle for so many of them.
Thinking of moving to KYN so checking out the local real estate π€£
They carry on and poo poo those of that have traveled and do want to continue to travel, saying that it's not the done thing- that travel is only a recent invention, whereas humans have actually been crissrossing the globe on all manner of transportation for eons- whereas attaining those white picket fences is actually the new and modern way of life.
I needed to fuel up.... π€£ππ
And a way of life that I don't understand because life is all about learning, experiencing, growing and having fun and adventures and you can't do that stagnating and essentially imprisoned by 4 walls and what that lifestyle entails.
So although I have done a bit of traveling, unfortunately I haven't been able to do far enough- for many reasons- life/time/money, but those time I have traveled will stay in my memory forever and this is one of those trips that I will never forget and one that I would like to repeat one day, but with a few other variables added into the mix for next time.
And people like us, people here on Hive- we're all travelers- whether that just be on our computers (only until the virus calms itself down...), or whether that be in real life.
Either way, we're the type of people not to let those white pickets fences trap us in- not forever anyway..if we were, we wouldn't be here having this amazing adventure through the Hive every day.
I hope that you enjoy this little video that I just made and the music to go with it. (thanks Garageband...it's been a long, LONG time...)
I really hope that you enjoyed this little spontaneous tour as much as I did. Unfortunately if I were to upload the rest of the photos and video, you'd be here for hours- which is why I am going to edit the months worth of gopro footage and thousands of photos over the next few months- unless you want to help me...π
