DOCUMENTARY UPDATE - FEBRUARY

I'm learning as much as I can about creating a documentary.

I've been watching other documentaries to get an idea for pacing, storytelling, and structure. I've sat down and written out more thoughts and questions that I want this documentary to invoke and answer. Writing and storyboarding are not my strong suit at all. I have a hard time describing the vision I have in my head for how I want the documentary to look but this has been a good exercise to put it down on paper. I believe I have a good plan set ahead of me for the shots to get, questions to answer, and story I want to tell.
It's kinda funny, or maybe meant to be, but the runner is a writer herself so I think her contribution to the writing aspect is going to integrate with my vision, at least I hope so.

I always knew this project would very much be a marathon (pun intended, in case you missed it, it's a doc about an ultra marathon runner) and not a sprint.

We've got some big shoots planned for the video which includes several 20+ mile backpacking trips deep into the Uinta Mountains.

We haven't been able to shoot together since the first shoot in January but I did make it up to Wyoming to shoot some more b-roll footage of the Wyoming winter conditions. Here's a screen grab from a video clip:
