I was asked to move up into the Gold Modern fray from the Silver Modern fray. I knew the jump was going to be tough so I rented a few cards to help improve my deck and jumped in hoping not to fall flat on my face...

Melee can beat Thorns

I get nervous when I see a melee heavy lineup going up against Mylor. Taking Thorns damage after every attack can be brutal, especially in a Little League match where the health tends to be lower. Add to that Unprotected so none of my cards can even use armor to slow the Thorns and it was going to be an uphill fight. So what strategies helped me pull off the win?

CARD	WHY DID I CHOOSE IT?
	With high speed Rats should get a chance to attack and utalize the Blast ability. On top of that, with the Little League ruleset there is a good chance Redemption can take out a card or two.
	Shiled and Scavenger are always nice abilities, but in Little League battles it can be unstoppable. Not having armor is a bummer, but it will still be a strong play.
	THe Heal ability in the Little League ruleset will keep Xenith around for some time
	More Scavenger. Playing Ants in the middle of the pack is a play to get its health up higher before it moves to the front
	Poison and Seank can be a deadly combo
	My only non melee play, but the hope of Bloodlust kicking in and the ability to attack from the back row is a plus.

Round 1 - Rats was able to take the opponent's tank down to one health and take out two cards thanks to Redemption. Great start! Bloodlust kicks in and my opponent is already down to two cards by the end of the round.

Thanks to Redemption and Scavenger my opponent's Thorns is not able to do enough damage and this battle is essentially over by round two.

Unfortunately the battle I shared was my only win this brawl 😞 I was welcomed to the Gold Modern fray with a solid kick in the mouth.

On a positive note the Calzones were able to put up a personal best of 141 points for fourth place. @cogie-p420 was able to slide into my old Silver Modern fray and pick up four wins so it was a good move for the team! I'm going to have to do a bit of learning and figure out how best to strengthen my deck for the gold fray.
