the Digital Nomad's Office 🪁📚

Being able to make a livelihood wherever I am has been the goal for years. In the past I picked up odd jobs and house sat but, sometimes my travel and those gigs didn't match up well. Sometimes I was left stranded with no job and had to figure out another solution.

These days I spend my "nine to five" typing away, editing writing, and doings some creation of my very own. And over the last few weeks I have called several places home. While visiting my sister in San Diego I used a pillow as my office chair and a bench as my desk. And during my break my sister read some oracle cards in response to career questions I had.

These next few weeks I am staying with family in the suburbs and am so pleased that I have found a really comfy situation. I even have some plants to keep me company!

It can get a bit hot sitting by the window during the intensity of a California summer. The benefits out weigh the downsides as the sunshine also feeds my growing collection of succulent plants. And, furthermore, this house has never really has a designated work-from-home space. My parents just chill on the couch when they have their own work-from-home days.

Working from the comfort of one's couch may be alright for some people. But I find my neck hurts after looking down at a computer screen for too long. As you can see in the image I always prop my computer up on a pile of books.

Having access to a large table or desk also means I can spread out my zine making station and do a bit of sewing - all important parts of my creative work. People tend to complain about finding pins and needles that have dropped onto the couch cushions so, a desk really is best!
