How it's Going and Where I'm Headed 🪵🪨 Learning to Love the Process 🛖 DIY Build Update

Building a home with our home with our own hands is a lot or work. Now this is so obvious I almost feel silly saying so. But, when I dreamed of building our own house - all those years ago - I had no idea what I was getting into.

My social life has mostly gone by the wayside, the house we live in while we build is a total mess, and my arms are always splattered with paint of some kind. Each day when we head to the land I must remind myself that this is my dream ... that I am living my dream life, even if is harder than I imagined.

The key to enjoying the build is to feel pride in what we have done thusfar, rather than cry over everything we still have left to do. It is all about optimism, you see?

So, while I paint these pieces of wood that will be the supports of our future tiny home I compliment myself on how much better I am at painting than months ago.

And while I do (what feels like the millionth) layer of cob plaster on our bottle wall, I admire the details of tje work I have done over the past weeks & months.

And when the work gets truly monotonous I let my mind slip in to day dreams ~ of gathering with friends in our future kitchen, of planting the garden that will someday surround the house, of filming videos with my handmade home as the backdrop.

For now, I am here, making said home by hand. And learning to love the process.
