Literacy doesn't define one's character
Hello Learners
Being a better person is not something we learn in school. The act of kindness, caring, and having empathy towards others is a matter of choice and values.

It is important to be literate; it has its perks.
We are now in a civilized world, science and technology have taken over, and the life of our forefathers is now a thing of the past. The good thing is many people have already found themselves adjusting to the new way of life...
We all need to know that there is no life for people who are not literate, Those are the kind of people who have to settle down for any kind of job that comes their way because they do not have a choice, I know some graduate and other literate are not having it easy as well but they have better chance of turning their situation around.
Some people mistake literacy for having many degrees and certificates, but that is not it. If it is just the lowest class you attended, having your primary school certificate or just learning how to read and write outside school is enough to call anyone literate.
Literacy helps with having a smooth conversation with others, for example, our neighbours
There is always a difference between when we are surrounded by the literate and the illiterate. In my former apartment, we had a WhatsApp group chat for all the tenants where we passed information to one another... The importance of this is that no one needs to invade the other's privacy when it comes to passing information, we were able to achieve this because we all can read and write but if it was the case whereby all the tenants are not literate, then having such a group chat won't be possible and whenever there is a message to be conveyed, one person need to start knocking on doors and invading people privacy all the time there is information to be passed.

Education is never a scam, some people thinks it is due to the high rate of unemployment, but there are some things we learn in school that will forever be useful to us and one of these things is personal hygiene, it teaches us how to be a better parent to our kids by guiding them towards cleanliness, School also teaches us how to stay safe, the do and don't to stay alive.
Back then, our forefathers tagged people as witches when bad things happened and they didn't understand it. There was a woman whose husband and 5 children died; the way they died was similar, vomiting and stooling... The villagers tagged the woman a witch and stoned her to death. It was years later that people got to know her family died of cholera, and not that the woman was a witch.
The world has gone digital, and sooner or later, life will be harder for the illiterate. How will they cope with banking and so on?
Being literate doesn't determine how good a person is, though. We have people who can't read or write but have a good heart and are ready to help those in need, whereas we have the literate who are cold-hearted.
