Today I wanted to share with you a shadow that projects not only an optical phenomenon, but also memories and moments I cherish. It turns out that yesterday I visited my graduate advisor at her home and helped her pack her suitcase as she's leaving on a trip to visit her parents in Chile.

It was 3:00 p.m., and while I was helping my advisor turn off all the water and unplug all the appliances, the ever-relentless summer sun radiated its light, making the heat it generated oppressive. But then, right at that moment, the shadows of two of the figures my advisor had on a table in the living room were projected. They were two sculptures of women projected on the wall, and they really caught my attention, as the professor told me she had a combative past, fighting for the rights of university students in the 1980s.

I was aware of my professor's activist tendencies during her university days, but it was only when I saw her various sculptures—they are of women in various everyday jobs—that I was able to confirm this. In this case, these shadows were the ones that caught my attention the most. Of the two figures, it is the tall, sinuous, dark figure that forms the most interesting shadow, due to its very tall shadow, which, in my opinion, projects that very characteristic imprint of the female gender, and is the reason for the title of this post.

Well, friends, with this recollection of my tutor's past that she shared with me, I conclude my participation in this week's smash contest. It was an interesting aspect of my boss's experience to learn about this and what her alternative tastes would be if she weren't a researcher. In your case, it would be a visual artist, particularly a painter, while I would be a historian because I love to understand the origins that have shaped us into the society we are today. Que tal amigos Shadow Hunters, Bienvenidos a mi participación en el concurso Smash round #386. Hoy quise compartirles una sombra que proyecta no solo un fenómeno óptico, sino recuerdos y momentos que atesoro con cariño. Resulta que ayer visité a mi tutora de postgrado en su casa y ayudarla a preparar sus maletas ya que se va de viaje a visitar a sus padres en Chile.

Eran las 3 de la tarde y mientras ayudaba a mi tutora a cerrar todas las llaves de agua y desenchufar todos los electrodomésticos, el sol siempre implacable irradiaba esa luz de verano haciendo agobiante el calor que generaba, pero entonces, alli justo en ese momento se proyecto la sombra de 2 de las figuras que tenia mi tutora en una de las mesa en la sala. Eran 2 esculturas de mujeres que se proyectaban en la pared y que realmente llamó mi atención, pues la profe me contó que tuvo un pasado combativo, donde luchaba por los derechos de los estudiantes universitarios en la década de los 80.

Si conocía las tendencias como activista que tuvo mi profesora en sus tiempos de la universidad, pero solo cuando vi sus distintas esculturas son de mujeres en distintos oficios de la vida diaria que pude confirmarlo. En este caso estas sombras fueron las que llamaron más mi atención, de las 2 figuras es la alta y sinuosa figura oscura que forma la sombra más interesante por su sombra tan alta que proyecta a mi juicio esa impronta tan característica del genero femenino y es la razón del título de este post.

Y bien amigos, con esta remembranza del pasado de mi tutora que compartió conmigo, cierro mi participación en este concurso smash de esta semana. Fue un aspecto interesante de mi jefa conocer esto y de cuales serían sus gustos alternativos si no fuera investigadora. En su caso sería ser artista plástico, la pintura en particular, mientras que yo sería historiador pues me encanta saber el origen que nos ha construido como la sociedad que actualmente somos. En fin las sombras como un medio para despertar recuerdos perdidos en el tiempo y el espacio. Nos vemos en el próximo concurso. Saludos!
