Steemit testing - can we avoid youtube for video clips

Last season i ran with several social media & messaging systems including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Path, WeChat, Whats App and of course Steemit, we are a motorcycle touring company based in New Zealand, we rent and tour on Harley Davidson's and social media is a key tool in our success in this business. I barely posted any pictures to Steemit, because the 2 step process involving a 3rd party software, it seems that is no longer as i have just been able to drag & drop a photo from a folder on my mac. I've also just tested the mobile Steemit app called eSteem & it looks like that works really smoothly, so now is the time to test video clip uploads and wether I can upload directly from my photos app on my phone or from the video creator app on my phone without having to go via youtube.....if that works.....then Steemit, you rock, I'll stop using youtube for posting videos in order to get them on steemit.

No, the direct upload of videos does not work on the desktop app Steemit, back to the drawing board
