27 February 2018 - Compost pile

There is some compost in the barrel too - though we haven't added to it for quite some time and it is just brewing there.

Meanwhile, potentially thanks to many bucketfuls of coffee grounds we have tossed in there, the big pile contains live worms some of whom I believe have survived all through the winter. And this pile not only produces compost but also worms who actually are quite good at processing not only fruit and vegetable trimmings but also cardboard. And they produce worm castings which is a powerful fertilizer.

I am sure we are going to have an excess of worms once it gets a little warmer, so if you are into vermiculture and happen to be anywhere in the vicinity of Providence - let me know, I may be able to help.
