Harvesting Cherries

Today is harvest time for our dwarf cherry tree, we can see the deep red cherries from far away. Our dwarf cherry tree produces about 15 quarts of cherries, and is about 15 feet high. When picking cherries make sure you have a ladder, bunch of bowls, and a helper. Before picking the cherries, check if their firm, and do a taste test to make sure they taste sweet.

Cherries will not ripen once removed from the tree, so you have to be a little patient. When picking the cherries make sure you pick the cherry with the stem and try not to damage the tree.

After picking six bowls full, there is still more to be picked when they fully ripen.

After washing the cherries you have to place them in the fridge in a sealed container, or plastic bags. The cherries will only last for two weeks in the fridge so you better get your eat on.
