Es ist nun schon fast 40 Jahre, ich hatte gerade mein Studium abgeschlossen und meinen 1. Job gefunden. In einer anderen Abteilung meines Arbeitgebers wurden damals die 1. Versuche in diese Richtung unternommen. Allerdings noch in einem sehr rudimentären Umfeld. Ein abgesperrter Parkplatz diente als Testgelände. Auf dem Teer waren ein paar Markierungen aufgezeichnet und das Versuchsfahrzeug bewegte sich in Zeitlupe entlang dieser Markierungen.

2015: Ich hatte ein Projekt ca. 5km von meiner Wohnung entfernt. Überschaubare Strecke, wenig Verkehr. Mit Kollegen unterhielten wir uns darüber, wann wohl die 1. selbstfahrenden Autos kommen würden? Zu der Zeit hatten wir 2 Autos, wovon beide bestimmt 90 - 95% der Zeit nur rumstanden.

Mit einem selbstfahrenden Auto könnte ich morgens ins Büro fahren. Wenn meine Frau tagsüber das Auto braucht, ruft sie es per App nach Hause und erledigt ihre Einkäufe oder Besorgungen. Abends schaue ich, wo das Auto steht. Wenn es nicht auf dem Firmenparkplatz geparkt ist ordere ich es ebenfalls per App und fahre dann nach Hause. Wir könnten uns 1 Auto sparen. Und so ein Auto ist nun mal eine Sparbüchse, die meistens nur rumsteht und rostet. Zukunftsfantasien zu der Zeit.

Langsam wird es konkreter. In einigen Städten in den USA und China sind schon autonome Robotaxis auf den Strassen unterwegs. Bin gespannt, wann ich das 1. Mal in so einem Fahrzeug sitzen werde.
