SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor, is a separate add on components of the SmartThings Hub from Samsung. The aim of the SmartThings Hub is to create a smart indoor environments where everything can be connected in a Smart way.
This SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor is built for window, door attachments to signals the SmartThings hub for opening and closing, as a form of alert tool. But it can also serve more than that.
With the connection to the SmartThings Hub, then opening or closing of the doors or windows can trigger downstream actions, such as turning on lights and more.
