Over 2000 years old bridge

I wasn´t actually going to write about the bridge, the visit there was part of a DIY project I am currently working on.

but once I was there early this morning, I just felt that I have to share it and also, that the bridge itself deserves its own post.

This heritage beauty is nestled in the emblematic village of Idanha-a-Velha that dates back to Roman times.
today, it is a tourist attraction with a permanent population of about 30 people with an average age of about 80 😊

with over 2000 years of age, the bridge shows some wear and tear, as to be expected but is being used on a daily basis until this day.

my original intention this morning was to collect round river pebbles for my other project but I found out that there is still so much water that I couldn´t really access the water course. this year we have been blessed with copious amounts of rain (even early this week !) that the water level maintains very high for the season.
on a "normal" year, the river bed would be toast dry by now.

the views from the bridge are utterly stunning which ever way one looks.
