Adventures in a new home.

We are in the middle of a Holiday weekend here in the States. It is our Memorial Day weekend.

My wife and I are spending the weekend helping my daughter unpack and set up her new home.

Everything has been going rather smoothly until Monday morning when my wife was vacuuming the living room and found a soft spot on the floor.

So, we pulled the carpet back from the wall and found a sheet of tin covering a hole in the floor.

When I pulled up the tin I found some PVC pipe that has been cut off.

Near as I can figure is that one time there was a wet bar in that corner of the living room.

I confirmed that the PVC pipe did not connect anywhere and proceeded with the fun job of cutting the hole big enough to put a piece of subfloor over the hole.

Then I cut a piece that will fit in the hole and secured it down.

After that, I laid the padding and carpet down and tucked the edges.
Viola! No one will ever know. (Except me)

Hopefully, I can finish this weekend with no more surprises.
