Through the door
I've been spamming Indeed with job applications in a variety of fields and one of the things that fascinates me the most is the sheer number of jobs available. It genuinely feels like an unending pool of opportunities.
I haven't been employed but it is looking very promising. I've been getting calls from recruitment and I feel like it is only a matter of time before I land my first role.
I've focused on jobs that are within my capacity. So, it has largely been roles in copywriting, marketing, sales, and of course, the outlier, Healthcare.
I know the healthcare bit will come as a shocker but if you recall, I mentioned doing a volunteer program in a hospital that also involved some assessment. I was basically trained to be a nursing assistant, so I have some experience and qualification in that field.
I've also been checking out roles in warehouses and my hope is that I'll get the nightshift. I think once mentioned that he used to work at a warehouse or something like that, so if I land a role here, I'll love some advice.
Anyway, out of all the interviews I've scheduled for the week, I think the most fascinating is a sales role for an electricity company. It's not much of sales to be honest, it's more of a role in "convincing" since what I'm selling is technically free.
I got a call earlier today where we talked broadly about what the role requires and I scheduled a proper meeting tomorrow. In summary though, I will be a door to door salesman if I land this gig.
When I was hearing further details of the role, all I could think about was telling me to "put my boot through the door". I think sales is an avenue to really get into the corporate world and while I'll be the bottom feeder at the start, it'll be a nice introduction to the industry.
I can't count my eggs before they're hatched though, because I haven't actually been given the role. I have only been considered due to my experience in digital marketing.
It is also important to add that right now, we're in survival mode, so I'm not too picky about jobs. However, this particular role in sales, while looking like it will be very challenging, could be my route into the world of marketing and sales. TIme will tell.
