Getting Closer

The next big move for us will be to pay for your flight in August. It is important that we pay as soon as humanly possible to avoid any future rush that could come around.

In Nigeria, we don't have a summer rush for airline tickets locally but international flights seem to spike at this time of the year. So, to beat the rush, we have to book way ahead of time and the time is now.

With each passing day, the price of tickets climbs and that price is going to come out of our pocket. Also, with every day delay, we also push our arrival date further, and that's not desirable.

I would preferably like to be airbound at the earliest convenience and that should be at most in the latter stages of August. I definitely don't want to enter in September but again, this is all dependent on the best price we see for flight.

Based on the prices that are being quoted by airlines, it is best to start sorting it out, even though departure date is over two months in the future. Also, as the days go by, the price of tickets will continue rising, so yeah, doing it now is the best option.

Instability

Other than therising price of tickets, we're also facing some structural problems in the country as a whole. Most of it is due to the change in government that replaced the most inept government in Nigerian history.

The current government aims to clean up the mess that it created by reversing almost everything that was put in place by the previous failed administration. It is hard to see things getting better, any time soon but it is once to see that they're trying.

Anyway, the change of administration has led to a couple of issues that include the higher cost of petrol, food and commodities as a whole. There's a lot of hardship in the country and the extremely wealthy politicians that are unaffected because of their insane wages want the populace to "bear with them".

Odds are that the Naira will most likely suffer some form of punishment in the medium term, which could reflect on the price of air tickets. Tickets are priced in dollars, so my stable coin holding will offset the damage but a crumbling Naira doesn't favour me.
