Changing tides.
We went to a different place yesterday to do the jamsession. It was the last one with Stephen, who had been coming to the sessions with a lot of enthusiasm since November. He held it up while I was in Germany, so I wanted to make it a little special. Coincidentally, we had already talked to a friend of mine who opened a bar a couple of months ago. She has a big stage and her step father is an awesome musician and had promised to join if we went there. So we did, and it was pretty awesome.
Stephen is not the only one leaving again. Spring is knocking on the doors of the northern hemisphere, and many expats prepare to go back to Canada or the US during summer. It happens every year, but this time I feel it a lot more, due to the companions from the jamsessions that are leaving. At least Dave is going to stay.
Coming and going is something very normal here. I had many friends leave over the years, never to come back. I'm not sure if that's the same everywhere, but here, it certainly feels like it's more than usual. I remember 2020, when both my best friends left. One came back, he's Ecuadorian. The other one got out just in time before the lock downs, and now lives in Serbia. We still communicate on a daily basis.
The times are changing yet again. A constant coming and going, and for now, it's more going than coming. Business will slow down a little, which will give us time to focus on improvements in quality, organization, space... Anti-cyclical action works best.
Eric Clapton's Journeyman came up last jamsession. We tried to play Old Love this time, but not very successful. It needs some training. It's a beautiful album that I'm enjoying listening to quite a bit.
