Caribbean Flair

How about some Caribbean flair? This little coin from the Commonwealth of Dominica has lots of it. Let’s take a closer look at it.

The first we notice is that it doesn’t say Commonwealth of Dominica on the back. In big letters, we read “EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK” at the top. This is the monetary authority for a group of eight Caribbean islands. It manages the currency and financial stability for this group of countries. The logo of this bank is a pair of palm leaves. Inside those leaves is an old acquaintance, Queen Elizabeth II.
