We Went to Bermuda Once
Back in 2012, the year my dad passed away, hubs and I decided we'd do something crazy. We went somewhere 'warm' for a vacation. Not only that, but we went for New Year's Eve.
For my #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay I'd like to take you for a walk in:
Beautiful Bermuda.
A nice little 2.5 hour flight from freezing cold Boston to a sunny and warm island.
So we thought. Before we get to the walking portion, I need to set the stage.
Our quick little flight turned into HOURS of waiting first.
The weather in Boston was so bad, we weren't sure we'd get to leave. Plus technical issues had us moving from gate to gate as they attempted to find a plane to use!
And the de-icing!!
Once we boarded the plane, we sat there for 2+ hours. Our 2.5 hour flight turned into nearly 5 hours on a plane.
But we got there, eventually.
We also don't do resorts, but this one was close to town, had everything we needed AND was a 'no kids under 18' venue. We're not keen on all that kid noise on vacation.
We stayed at Cambridge Beaches Resort
It was cold!
The wind had the temperature topping in the 60s...not exactly beach weather!
Serves us right for dreaming of a tropical vacation on sipping drinks on the beach between bouts of swimming.
But there was lots of beauty to look at and who cares if I had to wear my down vest and scarf the whole time!?
The color of the water and the sky are just magical.
The resort offered lots of land and trails, too, so on the days we didn't walk to town or take the bus a little farther, we had wonderful places to go.
Lavender, I think.
Hibiscus, maybe?
I'm no expert on flowers but I know it was all very pretty.
We stumbled upon a koi pond, as well. And visited that spot a few more times before we left.
We have considered going back, since barring any odd issues that may occur, it really is a wonder to have such a short trip to such a different sort of scenery!
The bridge into town, where we also liked to just go and stare at the water.
There was even a nice place to sit and marvel at the colors some more.
A look back at the resort from town.
