Importance of Hive

Hi Hive!

Do you ever scroll through your phone's photos from a few years back and notice how it sort of bookmarks exactly what you were doing in your life? Screenshots of orders you made, pictures of the kids, unexplainable selfies?

Well, I think of the blockchain like that as well. Here is a place where You have the ablility 20 years from now to come back and see exactly what you were thinking, feeling, or excited about. This information (theoretically) should remain here forever.

Just yesterday, I was searching for an old photo of a buddy of mine who was KIA it was probably the only one we took together. I couldn’t find it on any hard drive but I knew I posted it to my myspace account. Come to find out that myspace is now a music website...okay? But, I couldn’t access my page anymore, the data probably long erased and the photo is gone forever. This is one of the downfalls of the digital era.

The point that I am making here is, on Hive you have a safe place to store your data. Share it on the blockchain and it’s here forever, it cannot be deleted. Be careful though it is very easy to get locked out of your account if you lose your keys, but you can always come back to any page to view what’s on there going all the way back to the dawn of steemit.com. Even though looking at some of my old posts makes me cringe.

That’s my 2 cents on that.

For my future self, I leave you some memories of a wonderful day spent with the kids outside exploring imaginary beaches in our woods, climbing trees, and collecting magic rocks. You even picked some lilacs for @mrsbadger! Good job buddy! 🤣
