Scent Leaf 🌿 also called Ocimum Gratissimum
Ocimum gratissimum, also called clove basil or African basil, is a green plant known for its herbal properties and culinary uses. It is commonly used to treat digestive issues, flu, congestion, and headaches.
One thing I love about this leaf is the sweet aroma it releases when cooked with other vegetables. Scent leaf adds a spicy kick to any dish!
If you don’t have this natural plant in your garden, then you’re missing out. African mothers can’t do without it.
Initially, I wondered how our grandparents cooked without Maggi or other processed seasonings. Now I understand — they combined different leaves to achieve the flavor they wanted. Back then, cooking was 100% herbal, and they lived long, healthy lives.
Have you heard of African pepper soup 🍲? Scent leaf is one of the key ingredients used to make it.
The following properties, antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal properties make it a good choice for treating wounds.
