Logical View of Information

The logical view of information focuses on how individual users logically access information to meet their own particular business needs. (Baltzan 96) The logical view is unique to any one user; each user can decide what they want to view and how they want to view items on a database.(computerbusinessresearch, 2017)

This sounds to me, like opening the database data up and allowing the users to harness knowledge that fits their needs. This is the perfect view of transparency of information.

While the logic view helps the user only view what they need for the specific tasks, it does not restrict the user from the data. As database sizes increase to Big Data, more information can be harnessed from a single source.

The company MongoDB is providing these databases for their government customers.

“Our government customers are discovering how to use their data in new ways with MongoDB. City municipal services. National defense and intelligence agencies. Civilian agencies in healthcare, finance, energy, and more. They’re all doing what they could never do before.”

MongoDB website provides Government use cases. (MongoDB, 2017)

• Even capture an analysis
• Crime data management and analytics
• Citizen engagement platform
• Entity catalog
• Healthcare record management

While companies provide these data services, they can charge accordingly. My personal concern would be withholding the data to only those that can afford it. If we remove data from the public (IE: lose transparency), then knowledge will continue to be erased from the general populace.

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots. Marcus Garvey
