Units of the prison

Scientists from the University of Michigan say that if in the course of evolution everyone would behave selfishly - humanity would have long vanished.
The modeling of the various endings of the game "The Prisoner's Dilemma" was modeled for the study. The essence of the game: two people are imprisoned in separate units of the prison and must decide whether betray to another prisoner.

If both decide on the betray, they will spend three months in jail; if only one - that which has been betray, will be closed for another half year;

  • if both decide to stay silent - both will be released in a month.

In the middle of the twentieth century, legendary mathematician John Nash estimated that the optimal strategy of the game is to think for yourself.
He seems to be wrong.

The inner feeling and the choice - will not count and will not understand any super and smart non-biological machine.
"For many years, people questioned the justice of Nash's theory. If selfishness is good, why do animals, microbes, etc. work with each other? "

Scientists in their theory did not include one important element - communication. If two inmates interact with each other, they can agree to both be released one month later. However, if the prisoners are not in contact, they are much more likely to betray one another and spend three months in jail.
