Laps around Los Caobos / Vueltas en Los Caobos
After getting my bicycle ready and feeling more recovered and eager for action, I started a moderate routine of bike rides, trying to achieve between 8 to 10 km per ride, in a period of at least one hour.
So on this first ride I had an acceptable range, achieving statistics close to my goal, which is not bad, considering I took several stops and rode at a smooth, contemplative pace.
I decided to do a good part of the route in the famous Parque Los Caobos, a popular urban park, which is a sort of green oasis between the noise and asphalt of the city, and which also has a bike path that goes around the entire park, so it seemed ideal for me, since it is a quiet route without car traffic.
And curiously the park is not so quiet at that time, due to the influx of people and also many birds. But of course it will always be more pleasant to ride among leafy green trees and listen to cicadas, macaws and oropendolas, which make you feel in tune with the natural environment.
Also, riding through the park gives you another appreciation of the space, I love that and it is one of my main motivations when cycling, which also forces you to be very aware of the road. So a natural setting is quite conducive.
On one side of the park are the facilities of the National Center for Social Action for Music, belonging to the prestigious System of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Venezuela, with a stage and bleachers that offer views towards the park. I think these days they are preparing a big event, because there was some movement.
I was also struck by the large influx of people, even as it started to get dark. This speaks of how little by little citizens have been recovering their public spaces and highlights the importance of preserving and maintaining these green spaces, for both the physical and psychological health of people. So I hope to continue taking maximum advantage of these natural corners of the city.
