Está Jevi

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend an event called "Está Jevi" in a space that felt partially familiar to me. Although I had been in the same building the previous year, this occasion allowed me to discover a new facet of this place with a somewhat intriguing history.

Hace un par de semanas, tuve la oportunidad de asistir a un evento llamado "Está Jevi" en un espacio que me resultaba parcialmente familiar. Aunque había estado en el mismo edificio el año anterior, esta ocasión me permitió descubrir una nueva faceta de este lugar con una historia algo intrigante.

This very building once functioned as a kind of clandestine casino during a time when such establishments were prohibited in Venezuela. The most surprising aspect is its location, on one of the main avenues of Caracas, openly defying the restrictions of the era. After years of neglect, the space has undergone a remarkable transformation, reinventing itself as a vibrant cultural center that hosts various creative events.

En este mismo edificio funcionó como una especie de casino clandestino durante una época en que estos establecimientos estaban prohibidos en Venezuela. Lo más sorprendente es su ubicación, en una de las principales avenidas de Caracas, desafiando abiertamente las restricciones de la época. Tras años de abandono, el espacio ha experimentado una notable transformación, reinventándose como un vibrante centro cultural que alberga diversos eventos creativos.

On the night I attended, energy and creativity erupted. Climbing the stairs to one of the upper levels led directly to the dance floor, and at the back, there was a terrace where independent designers showcased an eclectic selection of clothing and accessories, adding an element of alternative commerce to the nightlife experience with a Caracas backdrop.

La noche que asistí, brotó la energía y creatividad. subiendo por las escaleras hacia uno de los primeros niveles, se llegaba directamente a la pista de baile y al fondo, una terraza donde también había una feria de diseñadores independientes que ofrecía una ecléctica selección de indumentaria y accesorios, añadiendo un elemento de comercio alternativo a la experiencia nocturna con paisaje caraqueño.

The musical atmosphere was managed by six talented DJs who took turns throughout the night, creating an immersive and diverse sonic experience, with many people enjoying themselves on the dance floor. I’m not much of a dancer, but in an environment like that, it’s truly contagious to move your body.

El ambiente musical estuvo a cargo de seis talentosos DJs que se alternaron durante la noche, creando una experiencia sonora envolvente y diversa y con mucha gente disfrutando en la pista de baile. No soy mucho de bailar, pero en un ambiente asi es realmente contagiante mover el esqueleto.

Unlike the intensity that often characterizes some nightlife events, "Está Jevi" managed to maintain a festive yet relaxed atmosphere. The attendees, a diverse and friendly group of people, contributed to creating a pleasant experience.

A diferencia de la intensidad que suele caracterizar algunas fiestas nocturnas, "Está Jevi" logró mantener un ambiente festivo pero relajado. Los asistentes, un grupo bastante diverso y amigable de personas, contribuyeron a crear una experiencia agradable.
