Leaving Los Caobos Park in an easterly direction and following the bike path, you can pass through the sculptural complex that makes up the iconic Plaza Venezuela, a mandatory point of reference for the inhabitants of this city.

The complex has several walkways that cross through it. We could divide it up by some of its most important sculptures; in this case, the "Solar Braid" by the Venezuelan kinetic or op art master Alejandro Otero is one of the protagonists.

It is an enormous installation that was first built to be exhibited at an art biennale in Europe and was later installed here, where it was restored about 5 years ago, manufacturing and replacing much of the "butterflies" that give it special mobility and color change.

On the other side there is a trio of relatively newer sculptures honoring the cultural legacy of the indigenous peoples in our country, represented by some of the chieftains who were protagonists of the so-called "indigenous resistance" in the midst of the colonial period.

My bike route that day included the regular pass through Los Caobos Park, crossing part of the Plaza Venezuela complex where you can easily get to by bike, since the bike path passes alongside it, and continue towards the Central University of Venezuela.

I intended to take a bike ride through the Botanical Garden located right in front of Los Caobos, but unfortunately I was denied access by bicycle due to some kind of special protocol that day.

However, I took the chance to ride around the university and make a brief stop at Plaza Venezuela to take these photographs.

I was able to complete about 10 km after pedaling for more than 50 minutes. Although it's not a big number yet, it meets my expectations after being out for several days with a bad flu that plagued me last week.

Saliendo del Parque Los Caobos en dirección este y siguiendo el sentido de la ciclovía, es posible pasar por el complejo escultórico que conforma la llamada Plaza Venezuela, lugar icónico y punto de referencia obligado para los habitantes de esta ciudad.

El complejo cuenta con varias caminerías que lo diseccionan. Podríamos dividirlo por varias de sus esculturas más importantes; en este caso, el "Abra Solar" del maestro del arte cinético u op art venezolano, Alejandro Otero, es una de las protagonistas.

Una enorme instalación que fue construida primero para ser expuesta en una bienal de arte en Europa y luego fue instalada en este lugar, donde fue restaurada hace unos 5 años, fabricando y restituyendo buena parte de las "mariposas" que le dan una especial movilidad y cambio de color.

Hacia el otro costado se encuentra un trío de esculturas relativamente más nuevas en honor al legado cultural de los pueblos originarios en nuestro país, representados por algunos de los caciques que fueron protagonistas de la llamada "resistencia indígena" en pleno periodo colonial.

Mi ruta en bicicleta ese día incluía el paso regular por el Parque Los Caobos, cruzar parte del complejo de la Plaza Venezuela por donde se puede llegar fácilmente en bici, ya que la ciclovía pasa por un lado, y seguir hacia la Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Tenía la intención de dar una vuelta en bici por el Jardín Botánico que queda justo al frente de Los Caobos, pero lamentablemente me fue negado el acceso en bicicleta por algún tipo de protocolo especial de ese día.

Sin embargo, aproveché para dar una vuelta por la universidad y hacer una breve parada por la Plaza Venezuela para realizar estas fotografías.

Pude completar cerca de 10 km después de más de 50 minutos pedaleando. Si bien no es un gran número todavía, cumple con mis expectativas después de estar varios días fuera por una fuerte gripe que me aquejó la última semana.
