Lest We forget
Remembrance day is a heavy day in Canada. It is a day to think about history, the cost of our current way of life, and appreciate what we have.
With the state of the world, the amount of places where people are not safe, where there are children but no childhood. I sit in my living room safe, with no one in my life at risk of death by violence I can only be thankful for the luck of my birth.
The red poppy is for veterans, those who fought and the sacrifices they made. The white is for the civilians who suffered and still suffer during war and other such conflicts. It's a poppy that hopes for peace while remembering that everyone, even the earth itself, suffers during war.
So if you are like me, and lucky enough to be somewhere where military violence isn't likely, take some time to appreciate it. To give thanks to and for the people who made it possible.
If you are someone whose fought for peace, thank you. If you are someone whose survived military conflict, I hope you have or do find safety.
And that's all I got to say.
