Under the Crossing
Beneath the bridge, the day feels slower.
The river moves quietly around the concrete pillars,
as if it has learned not to disturb the weight above.
Long shadows stretch between the columns,
and the repeating lines disappear into the distance,
drawing the eye toward a place that never quite arrives.
The structure seems permanent,
yet the stains on the concrete tell another story—
of rain, of seasons, of years passing unnoticed.
Small trees grow at the edges,
finding life in cracks where none was intended.
Standing here, I am reminded
that every road has two faces:
the one we travel,
and the one that carries the burden.
Above, people hurry toward somewhere else.
Below, water keeps its own time,
slipping past stone and steel,
patient as memory.
In this quiet space,
where nature and concrete meet,
there is no conflict—
only a silent conversation
between what humans build
and what the world slowly reclaims.
