Young rattlesnake in La Jolla Canyon
We saw this beautiful snake just at the entrance to one of the many trails close to Santa Monica Mountains. She was pretty calm, and I should have gotten a bit closer for a better look, but then again, I was with my daughter and I wouldn't want this creature to get mad at us)
Imagine how many of these and other snakes lurk in the thick growth of the wilderness! It's both amazing and a word of caution for those of us who like to wander off trails ))
